About Me

I believe in dreaming just as much as I believe in doing

Alexandra Roxana Popa

I see the world as a playground that I intend to explore as a human and as a woman

Until the age of 26, my vision about the world has been created almost exclusively by my mind. After a burnout and a period of depression, I started to pay more attention to and express my human side more and more. I have been through a beautiful and intense process of personal development and self-awareness that offered me the gift of multidimensional growth.

Today, I honor who I am thanks to my mind, my soul (including my emotions) and my body.

I see life as a journey where all of its aspects contribute to a genuine experience.

On top of this, I am a woman strongly guided by both feelings and opinions.

I am gracefully walking my path with curiosity, willingness to grow and to manifest my essence in everything I do.

I am a learner and educator

I have always been fascinated about learning. Since I learned how to read, this was my favorite activity of all. I’ve always been curious and willing to know more, even though I could not say if my passion for numbers was my strength or the one I had for literature. Not necessarily as a conclusion, I ended up studying Finance and Banks at ASE in Bucharest and realized after a three months internship at a bank that I would never do that my entire life.

Still, I continued studying Finance in French to get a Masters degree from University of Orleans and ASE. Eight years later, I wanted to get a top level educational experience and I went to INSEAD to do an MBA in France and Singapore.

But this was only my formal educational path. Most importantly, the consistency of my learning process was the willingness to learn in all aspects of my life. This took me to various schools and courses around the world, like a yoga school in India, a coaching school in the UK or a leadership retreat in Germany.

The list of things I’ve learned is very long, but not longer than the one of things I want to learn going forward.

I am an educator, not because I teach, although I facilitate the learning process of other individuals, but because I support education in everything I do. Through my continuous education, formal and informal, and the educational projects I am involved in, like Adoptamstudenti.ro and Oxfordforromania.org, I consider myself an ambassador of education at all stages and in all circumstances.

I am an entrepreneur and investor

Last, but not least, I am an entrepreneur. The common theme in almost everything I have done professionally is my entrepreneurial personality. Entrepreneurship is a way of creating the projects I dream about in real life.

My journey as an entrepreneur started when I was 20 with a spin off from the family business.

I built a business to deliver footwear to big supermarket chains from Romania and a few other countries. This took me through all stages of a retail chain, from production to delivery. It was a great opportunity to work directly with Romanian, Chinese and Turkish factories, and an even nicer opportunity to develop a team, to optimize processes and learn about retail operations in detail.

The journey went on with an online store selling colorful leather products that I sold after 5 years, an e-learning platform co-founded in London, a crowdfunding platform for Romanian students to study at top universities around the world and a real estate project in which I was involved in all stages of development.

I wanted to see if the grass was really greener on the other side when my only not-entrepreneurial professional experience was my job at Amazon in London, where I was Senior Vendor Manager for Baby products.

Coming back to Romania in 2019 I started a residential real estate project that I developed from scratch. This experience offered me the opportunity to see how my entrepreneurial and managerial skills apply in totally new environments.

The next stage of my professional path is to be involved as an investor in different projects with active or silent roles.
